Without a classification, the movie cannot be widely distributed or advertised in Germany, although it may still be shown to verified adults under certain conditions.
Citizen Vigilante also marks one of Armie Hammer’s first major film appearances since his career was disrupted by allegations made in 2021. Prosecutors later declined to file criminal charges, and the actor has gradually returned to acting through independent film projects.
Musk’s decision to promote the film has reignited debate over free speech, online content moderation, and the role of social media platforms in distributing controversial content.
